Systems Administrator

The customer seeks a Systems Administrator for projects utilizing IBM MAXIMO. This project is a multi-customer development effort to provide additional functionality into the MAXIMO suite of tools and modify existing capabilities. The candidate will be part of a team responsible for the full life-cycle activities of the on-going development of MAXIMO capabilities. The candidate will be expected to assist with new requirements as additional application customers are identified and included into the existing customer base.

The System Administrator delivers technical and operational support to key applications in the Sponsor's enterprise environment. Specifically, the System Administrator supports the operation and migration of existing business systems/services while continuously evaluating new technologies [i.e. Infrastructure-as-code, PaaS, SaaS], to increase efficiency delivering customer-value. Systems Administrator

Primary duties include performing system and server administration, operations, and maintenance support of a large enterprise 24x7 server infrastructure within the following environments - MS Server 2000/2003/2008. Specific duties and responsibilities include: implementation of baseline changes, respond to change requests and incident reports, perform technical server evaluations and analysis, and troubleshooting/problem resolution for all supported servers. Tasks: • Server Administrator executes tasks in the following areas: change request, trouble ticket, routine operation and maintenance, and server build. • Implementing baseline changes under tech lead oversight • Respond to assigned change requests that are submitted by “internal” and “external” customers. • Attending TEMs to discuss and agree upon MOAs –ensure MOA is within scope of server team’s work • Supporting customer in the development of a dedicated server build report as well as an internal build report • Creating and/or updating Asset Management records — responsible for integrity of asset management records • Resolving Trouble Tickets • Performing technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for all “supported” servers in response to Help Desk Tickets—which includes but not limited the following activities: Server failures, full system outage. • Performing server checklist • Restoring file and data information • Performing operating system software updates/upgrades • Monitoring/supporting server backups • Assessing server loads and work with tech lead on developing tuning recommendations • Communicating outage/degradation of server to management • Understanding and implementing established technical and workflow procedures • Performing server and storage capacity planning for complex and critical systems. • Recommending and implementing process and tool improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization's change management and configuration management processes and systems. • Planning for transition of the development and/or production environment to new technology. • Recommend and plan server recapitalization. Perform server performance tuning. Baselines and forecasts server performance data and tunes server hardware and software configurations. • Utilize system software to monitor the performance of system files; manages system data to maintain performance efficiencies. • Study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures. May provide 24x7 operational support. • Answer users' inquiries regarding server performance and operation related to problem resolution. • Oversee the daily performance of junior server administrators. • Reading trade magazines and technical manuals, or attending conferences and seminars to maintain knowledge of hardware and software. • Conferring with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications. • Conducting server diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support. • Create and maintain monitor definitions and rules based upon requirements from Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Systems Administrator

Experienced systems engineer and administer to provide Linux engineering, software integration and tier three administration in the context of an automated cloud provisioning environment. Primary duties include performing systems administration, maintenance, and engineering in multiple large enterprise server environments (Linux, Red Hat, CentOS). - Provide technical guidance in software engineering techniques and automated support tools - Analyze functional business applications and design specifications for functional activities - Prepare required documentation, including both program-level and user level documentation - Assist in establishing standards for information systems procedures - Provide operational pager/phone duty support - Complete day to day Operations & Maintenance tasks - Perform operating system software updates, upgrades and patches - Perform technical evaluations, analysis and troubleshooting for all supported servers in response to help desk tickets including, server failures, full systems outages and troubleshooting - Assist in server maintenance and special projects, during extended work hours - Attend TEMs to discuss and agree upon MOAs, ensuring MOA is within scope of supporting teams’ work - Support customer in the development and maintenance of systems baseline - Assess server loads and work with Technical Leads on developing tuning recommendations - Additional duties as assigned.
